VVV VERY VINTAGE VISION - tutti i giorni dalle 10 alle 21

VINTAGE SELECTION n.27: “V Generation”, the Vintage Generation

The atmosphere of a Sixties movie featuring period clothing alongside objects and accessories from the present day, plus a touch of nostalgia that makes us appreciate authentic charm once again. This is VINTAGE SELECTION, the laboratory dedicated to creative research and stylistic innovation and the place where top fashion companies meet with their buyers and fashion designers.

From Wednesday 27 January to Sunday 31 January 2016, the venue that was formerly Florence’s first railway station will be hosting the 27th edition of VINTAGE SELECTION, the market-fair featuring vintage fashions, accessories, miscellanea and remakes, that logged over 13,500 visitors from places as near as Germany and as far as the USA and Japan at the previous winter edition.
Vintage Selection has earned itself a special status amongst the Italian and European fairs that have fashion, design and vintage culture at their heart. This is a result of the various special features that have so powerfully contributed to its success to date: first and foremost the scouting and selection of the exhibition proposals, but also the fact that it is held concomitantly with Pitti Filati, the key international event featuring yarns for the knitting industry organized by Pitti Immagine at the Fortezza da Basso from Wednesday 27 to Friday 29 January. A unique synergy has been established between these two events which, for five days, will transform the city of Florence into a big yarn and quality clothing exhibition-event.
And in order to make this relationship even closer and more productive, an exhibition/showcase of the collections being presented at Vintage Selection will be set up inside the Fortezza da Basso, inspired by “Pitti Generation(s)”, the title-theme of the winter fairs, dedicated to overcoming the traditional generational barriers of contemporary fashion.
Similarly the title-theme of Vintage Selection 27 will be “V Generation”: the “Vintage Generation”, the multi-generations of very young men and women, as well as the young and not so young people who love to wear clothing and accessories from the ’50s, ’60s, ’70s, ’80s, ’90s and ’00s, mixing them according to their own personal style of dressing and creating new trends.
V Generation” will be the guiding-theme inspiring the fair’s latest layout in the Stazione Leopolda curated by Alessandro Moradei and will inspire VVV VERY VINTAGE VISION, an exhibition-installation occupying the area at the center of the two aisles, along both sides of which all the stands will be arranged as well as the other areas devoted to entertainment, meetings and refreshments that characterize Vintage Selection.

VVV VERY VINTAGE VISION – every day from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
The VVV VERY VINTAGE VISION exhibition - concept and art direction by Angelo Figus – will showcase various outfits supplied by the exhibitors taking part in the fair. Each look will consist of iconic garments taken from various periods, but which are in chromatic harmony with each other and evoke the cultural and fashion revolutions of their reference decades; pieces that have the strength to survive the passage of time.

And, as always, Vintage Selection will also feature the Lounge Area, with DJ sets during the happy hour playing music selected specifically for Vintage Selection. As they move around the stands, visitors will be accompanied by music provided by Radio Toscana, the fair’s media partner, which will include a DJ set inspired by the “Disco retrò” show and a series of interviews dedicated to the protagonists which will launch and support the fair as it unfolds.
In the leisure area the bar/restaurant will be managed by Tuscan Excelsia, one of the top caterers in the Florence area.
Jack Daniel’s will be at Vintage Selection with Tennessee Honey and its Bee Fair, a series of exclusive activities and tastings that is engaging with the main creative fairs in Italy. Tennessee Honey is the undiscovered side of Jack Daniel’s: a unique product that combines Jack’s unmistakable authentic flavor with the soft and natural taste of honey (for more info: www.jackhoney.it).
And of course you can take a break from the shopping and enjoy a sweet snack at the Frullallà truck.

The TAF –DENIM LAB project
Every day from 11.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m., with DENIM LAB, an embroidery loom will offer the public a chance to work on a versatile fabric panel par excellence, denim, interacting with it using the most diverse techniques... from tearing to embroidery, to heat transfer trimmings. Visitors will be provided with a quantity of different materials that will allow them to personalize the denim according to their own tastes.
In this way they will be able to leave a tangible sign of their own style and participate in the creation of a regular “tapestry”.
